Electronic Music Student Showcase from Music-COMP

Are you looking for an exciting opportunity to engage your students in music composition and technology this fall? The Fall 2024 Electronic Music Showcase from Music-COMP is the perfect way to get your students inspired and involved! Whether your students are experienced composers or just beginning to explore the world of electronic music, this program offers something for everyone. I am on the Board for this incredible organization, and this event is something that I think you and your students will love. The best part? You don’t have to be from Vermont to participate!

What is involved?

One-on-One Online Mentoring
Students will have the unique opportunity to work with an incredible team of composer/mentors through personalized online mentoring sessions. Registration is open now, and no prior experience is required! Open to all students in grades 3-12, our program encourages students to explore electronic music using any DAW (Digital Audio Workstation).

Reduced Mentoring Fees
If your school has already has a Music-COMP membership, your students benefit from reduced fees for mentoring sessions throughout the year, including the Electronic Music Showcase and Opus 39. With your support, they can access high-quality mentoring at an affordable price.

Meet The Composer/Mentors

Our mentors bring diverse musical backgrounds and a wealth of expertise to every session:

  • Will Andrews (Willverine): A trumpet player, composer, and music producer based in Vermont, Will is known for his work in electronic music and performances at Burlington’s Wallflower Collective. His latest album, Music Like Dirt, showcases his skills in remixing and original composition.

  • Amanda Rizzo: As a composer and multi-instrumentalist from New York, Amanda’s work spans a wide range of styles. She’s particularly known for her work with modular synths, theremin, and manipulating field recordings, giving her music a unique and innovative edge.

  • Katie Semro: Katie is an Ableton Live expert and the founder of ‘Women with Live,’ an online community promoting positive experiences for women in music technology. Her 2023 EP, GONE, demonstrates her talent and passion for electronic music.

Attend Our Showcase Event in Person!

On Tuesday, November 19th, Music-COMP will be hosting their first-ever Electronic Music Showcase at the Montpelier Performing Arts HUB on the former VCFA Campus in Montpelier, VT. This is a fantastic opportunity for your students to connect with other young composers, chat about gear, learn about production, and create new sounds together. The event will culminate in a showcase of student work and a special live performance by our mentor, Willverine!

Open to the Public
Even if your students are not part of our mentoring program, they are welcome to attend the showcase event! Keep an eye out for sign-ups to secure your spot.

How to Get Involved
