Music Theory & Ear Training Just Got SO Much Easier
If you are a MusicFirst Classroom subscriber and also have access to AuraliaFirst & MusitionFirst then I think you’re going to LOVE what our content team has just launched in conjunction with the amazing folks at Rising Software. If you’re NOT currently a subscriber, then please sign up for a FREE 30-day trial to see what we have put together for music teachers who are interested in teaching their music students about the fundamentals of music. We've just updated our Auralia and Musition service with 200+ pre-linked tasks to our 'First' quizzes and worksheets, making them easier to use and saving you loads of time!
To access this NEW content, simply open your MusicFirstClassroom, browse to Content → MusicFirst Library, then select Music Theory. Choose one and then 'Use Now' to add the content to your classes or use a full course to create a new class. Once you are in your class, you can click on any of the pre-made content to get an idea of how it works. In the image above, you see an AuraliaFirst task called Interval Comparison Level 2 (Introductory). Until now, you would have to make these linked tasks yourself, following our usual task linking process. If you’ve done that before, you know that having this work done for you is a time saver - and every moment counts when you’re teaching! If you click on the Open in Auralia link in the upper right hand corner, this is what you’ll see next after Auralia launches in your browser:
From here you can Preview the linked task, which in this case has 10 questions that have students compare intervals of Perfect 4ths, 5th, Octaves - ascending from the root note, played melodically. VERY cool. If you click the Preview button, you’ll be able to see exactly what your students will see when they take this quiz:
Again, if you’ve ever done this process on your own, you know that this new collection of over 200 pre-made tasks will save you a TON of time. Here are all of the new content areas covered in this collection:
Auralia Listening - Introductory
Auralia Listening - Beginner
Auralia Listening - Intermediate
Auralia Listening - Pop
Taylor Swift - Listening Worksheets
Musition Theory - Introductory
Musition Theory - Beginner
Musition Theory - Intermediate
UK Key Stage 3 Worksheets
You can find ALL of this content in the MusicFirst Library > Music Theory section.
Taylor Swift? Can you believe it??? Your students (at least some of them) will LOVE these tasks where we have embedded YouTube videos of various Taylor Swift songs that have students listen to and respond to the theoretical concepts drawn from her music. VERY cool!
Again, if you’re still teaching and looking for some post-concert activities for your ensemble musicians, I highly recommend checking this new collection of content out - your students will learn something and you’ll have a much easier time assigning it. And guess what? All of this content is auto-grading so you won’t even have to mark their work!
Hats off to the MusicFIrst Content Team and Rising Software! Enjoy!
