MusicFirst Partners with Naxos for Education

This week, I am at the Midwest Band & Orchestra Clinic in Chicago on behalf of MusicFirst. Aside from being a panelist on a session today titled Extending Your Reach: The Quilted Career with some music education luminaries, one of the things that I am most excited about is the announcement of our new partnership with Naxos Music Library and Naxos MusicBox. This partnership will bring educators the most comprehensive classical music streaming platform to help enrich the musical lives of their students in 2024. This collaboration will grant MusicFirst Classroom subscribers seamless access to both the Naxos Music Library and the Naxos MusicBox, unlocking a world of musical possibilities for educators and their students.

MusicFirst Classroom subscribers will be able to purchase both the Naxos Music Library and Naxos MusicBox subscriptions to gain unlimited access to the Naxos Music Library, a treasure trove of over 2.8 million recordings. This vast collection, featuring works from every major composer and performer across history, will allow educators to:

  • Explore diverse musical styles: From Baroque masterpieces to contemporary compositions, students can embark on a journey through the rich tapestry of musical history.

  • Enrich classroom instruction: High-quality recordings can be seamlessly integrated into lessons, enhancing understanding and appreciation for different musical concepts.

  • Personalize learning: Students can discover their own musical passions through independent listening and exploration.

Naxos MusicBox takes music education to the next level with its engaging functionalities. This interactive platform provides:

  • Downloaadable Lesson Plans: Teachers will be able to download adaptable lesson-planning materials to supplement their own curricula.

  • Educational games and activities: The engaging and graded activities make music theory, listening, and instrumental study fun and accessible for students of all ages and abilities.

  • Creative composition tools: Aspiring composers can make use of many prompts to create their own pieces of music and performance art.

On a personal note, I am incredibly excited to partner with Naxos for Education. When MusicFirst first launched bask in 2013, Naxos was one of our original partners. We sold NML subscriptions to hundreds of schools around the world. When we launched the MusicFirst Classroom, we couldn’t get NML to talk to our system, so we took a pause in our relationship. Ten years later they’re back!! By combining our innovative platform with Naxos’ unparalleled music library and interactive tools, I believe that we are creating a truly comprehensive and inspiring learning experience for music educators and their students.

We plan to launch our integration in early 2024. Pricing information will be available soon on the MusicFirst marketing site. Onwards!
