Project: Women’s History Month Podcast
March is Women’s History Month - celebrating, commemorating and encouraging the study, observance and celebration of the vital role of women in American history. What better way to celebrate in your music classes than to create a podcast using Soundtrap with your students?!?
The following project idea is from the Podcasting Across the Curriculum resource that I wrote for MusicFirst. Hope it is something that you and your students enjoy!
Objectives:
Women’s History Month is celebrated in March to commemorate the contributions and achievements of women despite the historical social challenges they may have faced. To celebrate, students will work in groups to produce a podcast that highlights a prominent woman in American history and provides details about her life, work, challenges she may have faced, impact on history, and her legacy. Drawing on resources such as https://www.womenshistory.org/, teachers will assign each group their historical figure, check their script-writing using the Draft>Edit>Revise process, and distribute their finished products during the month of March.

Student Instructions:
Women’s History Month is celebrated in March to commemorate the contributions and achievements of women despite the historical social challenges they may have faced.
To celebrate, you will work with some classmates to produce a podcast that highlights a prominent woman in American history and provides details about her life, work, challenges she may have faced, impact on history, and her legacy. Depending on what class you are working on this project for, your podcast should focus on women in that field. For example, if you are in music class, you should focus on famous composers, musicians, performers, conductors, producers, etc.
Use resources such as https://www.womenshistory.org/, to develop your script. Your teacher will check your script-writing using the Draft>Edit>Revise process. After your podcast has been recorded and edited, you teacher will distribute the finished product during the month of March as part of a series.
