Podcasting Across the Curriculum
I am SO excited to finally launch a project that I have been working on for the past 6 months: Podcasting Across the Curriculum.
Available for FREE exclusively through MusicFirst, this curriculum is literally everything you need to get started with podcasting in your classroom. It includes a very detailed set of 20 lesson plans that starts with the history of radio and podcasting, and takes you all the way through to promoting your podcasts on Spotify. Whether you’ve never heard of podcasts, or make them regularly, I am certain that you will find these lessons useful.
Once you’ve learned all about the process, I then provide 20 detailed projects ideas that span all subject areas in K-12 schools. These project ideas include printable student prompts and a scoring rubric, and range from podcasts about students’ favorite dinosaurs, to one that focuses on SEL - called Mindful Minutes. I also created an additional 10 “bonus” projects so that you have enough material to last a few years!
One of my alternative intents for releasing comprehensive curriculum this FREE to all MusicFirst Classroom customers is to make the music teacher the go-to person for podcasting in the school community.
So - how do you get this curriculum? Four easy ways:
If you are already a MusicFirst Classroom customer, it is already live in the MusicFirst Library>General Music folder, and fully integrated with our amazing tools and resources.
If you aren’t a MusicFirst Classroom customer, you can preview everything by signing up for a free 30-day trial.
If you purchase a standalone subscription of Soundtrap for at least 50 students through MusicFirst, we will give you a free login to our podcasting curriculum site.
If you purchase any Focusrite products (especially the Vocaster One Studio) through MusicFirst, we will give you a free login to our podcasting curriculum site.
The curriculum will not be available anywhere else. It won’t be sold in print. It is just one more perk to being a MusicFirst customer. I am incredibly proud of this resource, and I personally think that it is the most comprehensive guide to podcasting available on the market.
If you’d like to hear a podcast that I did that focuses on the curriculum in a conversation with my mentor and dear friend Dr. Lee Whitmore, click HERE.
A special thanks goes out to my amazing daughter Abby for editing the curriculum, Marjorie LoPresti for bringing it to life in the MusicFirst Classroom, and Rachel Nicastro, Natalia Buitrago, and Phil Gambril for making it look SO good!
I hope you enjoy what I’ve written, and as always, I welcome your feedback.
